Sheriff Howe discusses the Neighborhood Watch program with members of Clay/Union Electric Cooperative and Clay Rural Water System so their employees can better serve their customers by assisting the Sheriff's Office to prevent or detect crime and to protect property.

 

 

 

 

 

Christmas 2002 - The Clay County Sheriff's Office, The Vermillion Police and the Highway Patrol distributed Christmas dinner to needy families in Clay County.

 

 

 

 

 

The Sheriff's Office frequently offers free fingerprinting for child identification.  We provided the parents with fingerprints from their child for their own records.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Vermillion Police Department, Clay County Sheriff's Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, University of South Dakota Department of Public Safety and the Vermillion/Clay County Ambulance Department all volunteered their time to host the Bicycle Rodeo.  They inspect bicycles to make sure they are safe to ride.

 

 

 

 

 

The Sheriff's Office received 4 refurbished bikes from a program called "Pedal Power from the Pen" where inmates refurbish bicycles for donation back into the community.  A drawing was held at the Wakonda elementary school and Chief Deputy West presented the lucky winners with their new bikes.

 

 

 

 

Sheriff's Deputies donated stuffed animals which were presented by Chief Deputy Jerami West as Christmas gifts to the preschool class in Wakonda.
